Día de Los Muertos Xicágo: Remembering Three White Sox Legends

By Kimberly Marroquin

There’s a long list of legends who have donned White Sox pinstripes. In celebration of Día de los Muertos, the White Sox honored three Latino legends — Al “El Señor” López, Orestes “Minnie” Miñoso and Alfonso “Chico” Carrasquel — with an ofrenda (an altar) at the National Museum of Mexican Art’s (NMMA) Día De Los Muertos Xicágo event on October 28.

A Family Tradition

Día de los Muertos means “day of the dead.” It is a Mexican holiday celebrated throughout the country, the United States and parts of Latin America. The two-day holiday honors family and friends who have passed away.
