Column: Taking it one day at a time isn’t just a baseball cliche in 2020. It’s the only way we’ll make it through this mini-season.

That’s the unofficial slogan of the 2020 baseball season — or at least it would be if I were in charge of MLB marketing.

A 60-game major-league season with a rule starting every extra half-inning with a runner on second base, for no reason other than to get it over with as quickly as possible, is inherently bogus, illegitimate, shortsighted or any other pejorative you prefer.

Baseball had the option of playing at least a half-season, which would’ve been sufficient considering all of the obstacles in its way. A half-marathon would’ve at least eliminated the majority of wannabes contending on Labor Day with .
