Column: A mea culpa for including Mark Buehrle and Omar Vizquel on my Hall of Fame ballot — but no apologies for thinking Curt Schilling doesn’t belong in Cooperstown

The Hall of Fame announcement arrives Tuesday, and it looks as if the Baseball Writers’ Association of America will pitch a shutout with no new members selected in 2021.

That would mean last year’s class — Derek Jeter, Larry Walker and the late union chief Marvin Miller — are the only ones to be honored in July during Hall of Fame ceremonies in Cooperstown, N.Y.

Their induction ceremony in 2020 was canceled because of the pandemic, as was a separate ceremony for Frick award winner Ken “Hawk” Harrelson and Spink award winner Nick Cafardo of the Boston Globe.
