The left-hander’s focus was mostly on what’s ahead, beginning with Tuesday’s start against the Minnesota Twins at Target Field.
“I’ve been through a lot,” Rodón said during a conference call Monday. “But there have been quite a few people who have helped along the way. I could not have done it without my family’s support, my wife, my teammates. Some good defensive plays got me here. It’s a special honor.”
After battling injuries throughout his career, a healthy Rodón has been a standout this season on a deep staff. He is 6-3 with a 2.37 ERA and 122 strikeouts in 14 starts.
