Can disgruntled Chicago Cubs fans hop on the White Sox bandwagon? And if so, should Sox fans care?

With September on the horizon and visions of October on Chicago White Sox fans’ minds, there’s no doubt the bandwagon is growing on the South Side.

Everyone loves a winner, and this Sox team is easy to like. They have fun, swear like sailors and seem oblivious to the old-school beliefs of their 76-year-old manager, Tony La Russa.

But as the Sox prepared to face the Cubs in Friday’s opener of the City Series at Guaranteed Rate Field, a question lingered in the thick, humid air.

Can disenchanted Cubs fans root for their South Side rivals down the stretch, and if so, would Sox fans welcome them to the fold?
