4 things to look for in Game 2 of the White Sox-A’s series, including Tim Anderson’s resurgence and another early first pitch

After a dominant outing by Lucas Giolito in the playoff opener, the Chicago White Sox take on the Oakland A’s at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Game 2 of the first-round series.

Anderson had 12 hits in 19 at-bats in a four-game stretch from Sept. 12-15, raising his average to .377 and putting him in good position to capture his second straight batting title.

It was all downhill from there. Anderson wound up hitting .130 in his last 11 games, including a 1-for-24 stretch in his final five. He finished at .322 — still a good season —but his downfall coincided with the Sox’s season-ending swoon.
