The Sox needed some length out of Dane Dunning in the fourth start of his major-league career Wednesday, and the rookie delivered.
“Every time I take that mound it’s, ‘Next pitch, this next pitch right here,’ ” Dunning said. “I try to take that approach if we’re behind or ahead. We have a really talented offense and an extremely good defense, so I try to put the ball in their hands.”
Dunning missed last season while recovering from Tommy John surgery.
