Inside the Wrigley Field press box Tuesday afternoon, there were two guarantees everyone was willing to bet on. One, only a minor miracle was going to keep the rain away from Wrigley, pushing Game 4 to Wednesday. And two, with said rainout a near-certainty, Stephen Strasburg would get the nod over Tanner Roark in the rescheduled game.

Somewhere along the line, the Washington Nationals decided to change the script.

“We're going to go as planned with Tanner,” Nationals manager Dusty Baker told a stunned group of media members Tuesday evening.

So, uh, why?

“Well, we decided to stay with Tanner because, number one, you know, he was slated,” Baker said.
