There was no way of knowing for sure, Frederik Andersen said, how many starts it usually took to find an early season groove.
“I think I’ve been playing alright,” Andersen said Wednesday morning before he faced the Devils. “It’s just I’ve been struggling a little bit with some unfortunate bounces. I just keep with it and keep working and I know that that’s going to change or it’s going to start coming my way.”
Andersen was pegged for six as the Leafs dropped their first game of the year. He wasn’t the reason for defeat, but he was also most definitely the second-best netminder in the building – outshined in every way by Cory Schneider who made 47 saves for New Jersey.
