Henry Ellenson approached his second year of NBA training camp with one modest goal.
“Personally, I just want to be here in camp and get inside the rotation. That's my biggest thing,” Ellenson told The Athletic in a Q&A two weeks ago.
After spending most of his rookie season in the developmental G League, the Detroit Pistons' forward felt he had a good enough grasp on the NBA to make some noise this time around. He also felt that he adapted to the physicality of the pro game, which set him back in his first year.
Ellenson spent the offseason convincing himself he could take the leap in Year 2, and he's spent the first two weeks of training camp convincing the guy who, ultimately, will decide if his goal is to become a reality.
