It’s been about a week since the Chicago Fire’s 2017 season came to an abrupt halt. We’re all still feeling kind of down about it. But it’s worth remembering how incredible this season was at times. Back to back Wooden Spoon seasons were brushed aside after a barnstorming run in the middle of the campaign that helped lift the Fire into the upper reaches of a tough Eastern Conference and, briefly, in contention for the Supporters’ Shield.
There are plenty of contributing factors that went into the team’s improvement this season, and we’ll dig into them more as our end-of-season coverage kicks into gear.
