BRIDGEVIEW, Ill.—Slowly but surely, Veljko Paunovic’s plan for the Chicago Fire is coming together.
Not for the first time since his arrival in Chicago, the Fire’s Serbian first-year head coach presided over a performance that oozed with purpose and clarity, his players carrying out their well-drilled orders to a tee in an attempt to become the cohesive, adaptive and winning unit that Paunovic has envisioned for them.
However, for the first time in four outings, his plan brought a vital three points to the Fire, who improved to 1-2-1 with a 1-0 victory over the Philadelphia Union on Saturday at Toyota Park.
