Perhaps one of the most interesting stories to start the NHL season was Filip Chytil (Hee-tyl). Very rarely does a player drafted outside the top 5 make the NHL out of camp. Jakob Chychrun did it last season. This year, Chytil and Oilers pick Kailer Yamamoto made their teams out of camp. Chytil has since been sent to Hartford in the AHL, and may be sent back overseas to play out the year.
At the NHL draft in June, the young Czech forward was a consensus early second round pick. He had a very strong showing at the under-18 world championships in April, where he was a key piece on the gold-medal winning team.
