Five games into the 2017 season, Michigan State has already surpassed its win total from 2016.
This might not be a top-tier team like the Spartans of 2013-15, but it’s clearly moved past last year’s 3-9 debacle, now sitting at 4-1 after a 14-10 win at Michigan. The Spartans are a big riser in this week’s All-American 130, jumping into the top 25.
Last year, MSU did everything wrong — on and off the field. On Saturday, they made enough plays and held on in a rain-drenched second half.
The Spartans’ loss to Notre Dame doesn’t look as bad as a few weeks ago, as the Irish continue to win, and the Spartans’ wins against Iowa and Western Michigan also look better after Saturday’s results.
