Sticking with the theme of the week here at The All-American, it’s time for a midseason review of our stop rate standings.
If you’ve missed our previous updates, stop rate is a simple measure of defensive success: the percentage of your defense’s drives that end in punts, turnovers or turnover on downs. We’re poring over the box scores every week to track the stop rates of every FBS defense this season.
We’ve said from the very beginning these stop rates would become more meaningful as the season progressed. Well, we now have a total of more than 10,700 drives in the stop rate database.
