Schweinsteiger Named To MLS Team Of The Week

The Chicago Fire scrounged up a 2-2 draw with the Portland Timbers on Saturday, earning their first point of the season. A point is a point, but it’s also one point from a possible nine and came despite an overall poor performance by the Fire.

Yet there were some bright spots from that game beside the result, and an obvious one was Bastian Schweinsteiger’s performance. Positioned initially as a #10, Basti soon dropped deep and played as a sweeper for much of the game. That allowed him to shore up some deficiencies in the Fire’s defense while still creating opportunities for counterplay.
