Following the result, the Fire currently sit within four points of a playoff position with four games remaining in the 2019 regular season.
Chicago tested Crew SC goalkeeper Eloy Room early and came close to taking the lead just 10 minutes into the game. The chance to score came when Frankowski blasted a shot from just outside the 18-yard box that forced Room to make a diving finger-tip save.
