One of the more interesting picks at the 2017 NHL Draft was the Flyers’ selection of Morgan Frost 27th overall, and it was for a reason that wasn’t easily noticeable.
No, it’s not because they passed up Eeli Tolvanen, who Nashville picked at 30th overall and has been lighting up the KHL, or because Frost was considered by the industry more of an early to mid-second–round type of prospect. It was due to a weird conflict in a key aspect of his talent evaluation.
