Blue Jackets general manager Jarmo Kekalainen denied a report in Canada this morning that right winger Josh Anderson has requested a trade.
Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman reported that Anderson had requested a trade — perhaps a sign-and-trade agreement — to end a contract stalemate between the Blue Jackets and Anderson's agent, Darren Ferris, that has dragged more than two weeks into training camp.
“No trade request,” Kekalainen said in a text exchange with The Athletic. “We are hoping (Anderson) will sign soon and continue playing in the National Hockey League.”
Ferris would not address the report when contacted by The Athletic.
