CHICAGO — Prior to Thursday's game, Mike Sullivan was asked to compare the Penguins and Blackhawks, easily the NHL's two most successful franchises in the era of the salary cap.
“I think the styles of play are very similar,” Sullivan said. “Anytime we play the (Blackhawks), it's always an exciting game.”
Presuming you were one of the 21,705 folks in the United Center wearing a red jersey, or simply a schadenfreude enthusiast, this contest was indeed very exciting.
The Penguins allowed 14 of the Blackhawks 18 skaters to record a point in a humiliating 10-1 defeat which looked far more lopsided than the score would indicate.
