BRIDGEVIEW, Ill. – Bastian Schweinsteiger comes in to Chicago with the hope of Fire supporters resting on his shoulders.
After enduring their two worst seasons in club history with consecutive last-place finishes in the table, the Fire brought Schweinsteiger in as arguably their most important piece to build their turnaround upon, as head coach Veljko Paunovic and general manager Nelson Rodriguez continue working to put together a team that is playoff-worthy, after missing the playoffs in six of the last seven seasons.
Those efforts took another step forward on Wednesday as the Fire unveiled former German international and Manchester United midfielder Schweinsteiger at The PrivateBank Fire Pitch in Chicago.
