It was after only a few line rushes last Thursday at Little Caesars Arena that PA Parenteau jammed the bottom of his stick to open the practice rink door, exit the ice, and stalk off on his skates toward the trainer’s room.
Back spasms. Nothing major. A function of him being “old,” he joked. But enough to keep him out of Thursday’s lineup in which he was slotted in to play right wing on the Red Wings’ second line against the Chicago Blackhawks that night.
Don’t take anything for granted.
If there has been anything the 34-year-old Quebec native has learned in eight years, nine teams and 114 goals in the NHL, it’s that you’re never promised anything.
