Chicago Fire forward and 2017 MLS Golden Boot winner Nemanja Nikolic finished third in this season’s MVP voting.
Nikolic received a modest 7.84% of the vote, finishing behind NYCFC’s David Villa (16.4%) and eventual landslide winner Diego Valeri of the Portland Timbers (50.71%).
The Hungarian international still made quite the impression on MLS this year, though, scoring 24 goals and registering 4 assists in his 34 regular season appearances.
He was hoping to become the second Fire player in history to win MVP. The first — and only — Fire player to do so was Mike Magee in 2013, who scored 21 goals that season.
