Montreal Impact acquires midfielder Harry Shipp Chicago Fire

The Montreal Impact have acquired midfielder Harry Shipp from the Chicago Fire in a trade for general and targeted allocation money, according to a statement on the club's website.

Shipp, 24, is an Illinois native and was signed as a homegrown player for Chicago on Jan. 9, 2014, after a successful college career at Notre Dame.

Chicago general manager Nelson Rodriguez admitted it was hard to part ways with Shipp, but said it was best for both club and player.

"Harry is a homegrown player and an obvious fan-favorite, which makes this trade more emotional than most," Rodriguez said in a statement.
