SUNRISE, Fla. — There was some logic to the idea of Antti Niemi getting the start against the Panthers on Friday. After all, his first two starts came on the second night of back-to-back sets in Chicago and Tampa Bay, respectively.
Sure, he hasn't played well. But those buildings in those circumstances are a tall order for any goaltender, let alone a struggling backup.
So, there are now two possibilities: Murray will either play in both games during the Florida swing this weekend, or Niemi will receive another unfavorable assignment Saturday against the red hot Lightning.
Sullivan isn't about to show his hand.
