ATLANTA (Oct. 21, 2018) - The Chicago Fire (8-18-7, 31 points) fell 2-1 to Atlanta United FC (21-6-6, 69 points) at Mercedes-Benz Stadium on Sunday afternoon. Midfielder Michael de Leeuw scored the Fire's goal in the first half, notching his second of the season.

The hosts opened the scoring in the ninth minute when defender Franco Escobar curled a low, left-footed shot into the far corner.

The Fire equalized in the 24th minute when defender Bastian Schweinsteiger played the ball forward for midfielder Brandt Bronico, who turned and found midfielder Djordje Mihailovic inside the 18-yard box.
