If there was one recurring theme at last week‘s Toronto Marlies training camp, it was this: This year’s team was going to be very hard to make, Sheldon Keefe repeatedly said.
It was the best field of the three camps he has coached with the Marlies, he said, pointing out to reporters that the Marlies core beat the Montreal Canadiens’ NHL roster.
“That shows the depth in the organization at all positions. I think the guys that are here feel that,” Keefe said on the team’s last day of training camp before two pre-season games in Rochester.
