MENDOTA HEIGHTS, Minn. — Well, for at least one day, Luke Kunin didn’t temporarily have to make the three-hour trek southbound on I-35 for Des Moines, Iowa, only to have to do it all over again northbound hours later Wednesday night.
Such is life right now for Kunin and the Wild.
Because of their cap situation, the Wild have been shuffling forwards back and forth between the NHL and American Hockey League on off-days in order to accrue a few thousand bucks a day in cap space.
Even though Justin Kloos was sent down after making his NHL debut Tuesday night and another forward is expected to be recalled later Wednesday for Thursday’s game against the New York Islanders, Kunin got to stay north of the Iowa-Minnesota border and actually practice for a change with the big club.
