Jan Rutta can trace his rise to the NHL back to an important decision about his workout routine: he stopped running.
Let him explain.
“I always had a problem with gaining weight,” Rutta said recently. “Back in Czech, we used to do the offseason together as a team, and we had some older guys on the team. So, we were mainly running because they needed to cut some weight. I was just cutting weight instead of gaining weight.”
Rutta dropped running, added weight lifting and everything from his body to his play began to fall in place.
