When this weekend’s Michigan-Minnesota matchup was first announced as a night game, the confusion was palpable.

Michigan was coming off a brutal loss at Penn State and had been functionally eliminated from Big Ten contention. Minnesota was middling. Even the Little Brown Jug, a classic rivalry prize, didn’t feel like enough to make this matchup compelling.

For the most part, that’s all still true. But one major development has suddenly made Saturday’s under-the-lights backdrop a significant one: Brandon Peters. After Michigan’s redshirt freshman quarterback got his first meaningful action against Rutgers last week, all eyes will be on him when the Wolverines take the field for their second night game at home this year.
