Former Chicago Fire forward Chris Rolfe announced his retirement from professional soccer on Thursday morning, after a 13-year career that included time spent in Chicago, Denmark, and D.C.
Rolfe was selected by the Fire out of Dayton with the 29th overall pick in the 2005 MLS SuperDraft, and spent eight seasons with the Men In Red between 2005 and 2014. Rolfe made 209 appearances for the Fire in all competitions, and remains the club's second-leading scorer all-time with 48 goals, behind only Ante Razov's 76.
Rolfe led the team in scoring in three separate seasons (2005, 2008, 2012), and additionally helped the club lift the 2006 Lamar Hunt U.
