Five takeaways from the Fire's loss to Columbus

As the Fire continue to struggle on the road, their latest loss away from home against a playoff contender has placed them perilously close to dropping out of the top three in the Eastern Conference. They are just as close to Toronto FC at the top (six points behind), as they are to Atlanta United as the sixth-place team who are only a half-dozen points away with a game in hand on the Fire.

New York City FC has pulled two points ahead of the Fire to claim second place after a 2-0 win in Los Angeles. The Red Bulls are now only three points behind.
