FENTON, Mo. (June 14, 2017) – The Chicago Fire advanced to the Round of 16 in the 104th edition of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup with a 1-0 win over USL side Saint Louis FC at Toyota Stadium in Fenton, Mo.
The Fire nearly got on the board in the 14th minute when rookie midfielder Daniel Johnson earned a free kick just outside the Saint Louis 18-yard-box, but Juninho’s ensuing restart clanged off the post.
Luis Solignac opened scoring in the 27th minute. Brandon Vincent received the ball on the left flank and whipped in a cross to Solignac, finding the Argentine striker 12 yards out.
