To start the NHL regular season today, there likely won’t be any huge speech from Red Wings coach Jeff Blashill. There won’t be a big moment where he lays it all on the table, everything that is on the line for both him personally and a team that has the lowest external expectations in decades.

At the start of training camp, Blashill gathered the entire team at the Grand Traverse Resort and put it all out there.
The team was coming off an awful season.
