There's certainly no way of knowing if the actions of 7-year-old William Morkin signify any sort of impending good fortune for the upcoming Chicago Fire season.
What is certain, however, is that young William has created a poignant and indelible visual for supporters of the Chicago Fire Soccer Club.
It's a story that has its roots in a letter to the Vatican penned by William from his home in suburban La Grange, Ill. -- one of millions of dispatches sent by youngsters around the world to Pope Francis. Last November, the Vatican announced that the Pontiff would author a children’s book named “Dear Pope Francis” comprised of his responses to just 30 of those letters -- one of which happens to be that written by William Morkin.
