Chicago Fire Soccer Club and Gilberto Mutually Terminate Contract

CHICAGO (June 29, 2016) – The Chicago Fire Soccer Club and Gilberto have mutually agreed to terminate the Brazilian striker’s contract the club announced Wednesday.

“Despite his best efforts, Gilberto was not able to reach his top form in Major League Soccer,” said Fire general manager Nelson Rodríguez. “He is a good person, with a big heart and a passion for the game, and we hope he finds success at his next stop.”

Gilberto was signed by the Fire as a Designated Player on July 27, 2015, after the club claimed him on waivers.
