Chicago and FIFA look on funny side after Schweini's World Cup mishap

Bastian Schweinsteiger's great US adventure got off to a slightly incongruous start when the Chicago Fire midfielder was left well and truly stumped during his introductory press conference.

Indeed, the veteran was confused when a local reporter asked him whether he was hoping to score a goal in the World Cup during his time at Fire.

Of course, Fire are not an international team as defined by FIFA and Schweinsteiger has already retired from international duty with Germany -- thus making the possibility of a World Cup goal a distinct improbability.

However, with tongues pressed firmly in cheek, the MLS side managed to poke fun at the situation by accompanying a photo of Schweinsteiger's maiden training session with a suitably pithy hashtag.
