The Canadiens cut defenceman Jakub Jerabek and forwards Michael McCarron, Peter Holland and Daniel Carr on Saturday, hours before their final game of the preseason against the Ottawa Senators.
Holland and Carr will have to clear waivers before they can join McCarron and Jerabek in Laval.
Holland, to me, is the only mildly surprising decision here. Byron Froese is still in camp, one of 15 remaining forwards, and Claude Julien playing him at centre Friday should have been a sign. The Canadiens will probably keep 13 forwards, so two of Froese, Jacob De La Rose, Andreas Martinsen and maybe even Torrey Mitchell will be trimmed from the roster at some point.
