After a home-cooked meal at Matt Cullen’s house and a few heated games of mini-sticks in the basement with Cullen’s three sons, Pittsburgh Penguins defenseman Ian Cole fired off a text message late Friday night to Cullen. On the chain, Cole included teammates and fellow Cullen guests Sidney Crosby, Patric Hornqvist and Carl Hagelin.
Cole’s text: “Thanks for dinner, but there are no deals in the corners tomorrow night. I’m not going to lay off you. Thank you, but it has to end at dinner.”
So, Cullen’s aware that there will be no freebies in his first game against the Penguins since leaving the organization for the Wild after winning back-to-back championships.
