Adams and Wimbush give Notre Dame more than meets the eye

SOUTH BEND, Ind. — Josh Adams and Brandon Wimbush walked into the interview room together Wednesday, the quarterback sticking a fake mic into his right-hand man’s face before taking his own seat for the assembled reporters nearby.

Adams, as the nation’s No. 7 rusher, has been Notre Dame’s biggest star. Wimbush, as the first-year quarterback, has naturally been the 5-1 Fighting Irish’s most scrutinized starter.

With rival and 11th-ranked USC coming to town Saturday, the 13th-ranked Irish will need both players to be at their best in a game that can go a long way toward determining a) Adams’ Heisman candidacy, b) Wimbush’s growth and c) Notre Dame’s College Football Playoff hopes.
