49ers Rewind: It's Beathard and Thomas time, Foster is badly needed, and more from the 49ers' most recent loss

George Kittle wasn't surprised that C.J. Beathard — in his first extended NFL action — led the 49ers all the way back from a 17-point deficit before nearly erasing another nine-point Washington lead.

The tight end had seen something similar (in an NFL stadium, no less) while playing college ball with the quarterback at Iowa, when Beathard replaced starter Jake Rudock midway through a game his sophomore year.

“I remember it well, 2014 at Pittsburgh in Heinz Field,” Kittle said in the locker room after Washington beat the 49ers 26-24. “C.J. came in the second half, we were down 10, and we won by four.
