DENVER – Zach Davies didn’t have a warm welcome in the Mile High City and the Rockies made it a long night for the right-hander. Davies was thought to be a player who could potentially be moved at the trade deadline, but in his first start post-deadline, things didn’t go well.
The Rockies got to Davies in the second inning after he allowed a double, single and walk to load the bases with nobody out. Next batter, Elias Diaz had the biggest swing of the inning, crushing a no-doubt grand slam to give Colorado a 4-0 lead.
The Rockies extended the lead in the fourth inning on Sam Hilliard’s three-run blast to make it a 7-2 game.
