Yankees may have just saved Cubs fans from an disastrous trade deadline move

The first domino fell on Thursday when the Seattle Mariners acquired Josh Naylor from the Arizona Diamondbacks and, less than 24 hours later, another top position player is on the move, with the Colorado Rockies sending veteran Ryan McMahon to the New York Yankees in exchange for a pair of prospects.

McMahon, 30, shores up the third base picture in the Bronx which has been less than stellar, to say the least. But it comes at a cost. The former All-Star carries a $16 million price tag in both 2026 and 2027 - and keep in mind, he's never even been a league average bat over the course of a full season.
