The Cardinals were unable to move any of their pricey veterans last season due to those players’ unwillingness to waive their no-trade clauses, but that all appears to be changing. New president of baseball operations Chaim Bloom was already able to flip Sonny Gray for a pair of younger pitchers from Boston, and now both Nolan Arenado and Willson Contreras could be on the move. Though moving Arenado is a much higher priority, it should be much easier to find a taker for the former Cubs catcher.
According to Katie Woo of The Athletic, Contreras “has become more willing to waive his full no-trade clause for the right fit.
