Monday brought on a new pair of embarrassing lows for the St. Louis Cardinals. The Chicago Cubs' rival announced a record-low attendance number at the third iteration of Busch Stadium, revealing that only 17,675 fans witnessed an absolute meltdown for Willson Contreras.
In the seventh inning of the Cardinals' 7-6 victory over the Pittsburgh Pirates, Contreras struck out on a called third strike. After beginning his walk back to the Cardinals' dugout, Contreras then reversed course and had some choice words for home plate umpire Derek Thomas. Contreras was ejected from the game, but didn't leave it at that.
