In the weeks leading up to the Cubs’ last road trip of the regular season, NFL jerseys started to appear in the Cubs clubhouse. A Barry Sanders jersey draped over Chris Coghlan’s chair. A Bo Jackson at David Ross’ locker. It was starting to look like a Mitchell & Ness opened underneath Wrigley Field. (Don’t get any ideas Crane Kenney.)
After tying (yes, tying) Pittsburgh 1-1 in a rain-shortened game Thursday at PNC Park, the Cubs adorned their selections for the last road trip of the regular season, a hop, skip and a jump to Cincinnati. The poor rookies had to dress as cheerleaders in a heteronormative prank that never gets old.
