Union Agrees to July 1 Report Date, Sides Still Working on Health and Safety Protocols

Though the original deadline has come and gone, both the league and the players union are engaged in mutual discussions with reports saying there are no major hurdles remaining. The union has informed the league that players plan to report to “spring” training by July 1 to prepare for a 60-game season that should commence around three weeks later.

In between dad jokes, Joel Sherman referred to the eventual agreement as a “living document.” Rather than insinuating that people can misinterpret and subjectively apply its content, something the owners are almost certain to do, Sherman is saying that it will have to be updated in real time as new best practices are developed.
