To enhance ‘memorable experiences' for their fans, Blue Jays' office purge sends Canadian content packing

On Wednesday, the Blue Jays fired upwards of 20 employees. Most filled routine jobs, invisible to the fan base. They worked in the ticketing department, stadium operations and media relations. Some did the gruelling work involved in converting the Rogers Centre for non-baseball events. Others sat behind desks and did less strenuous grunt work.

At least one, whose spouse is seriously ill, had worked for the club for more than 30 years. Another Jays' staffer with close to three decades of service was also let go.

That's two among many Canadians gone from the employee rolls of Canada's team.
