The Rundown Ultralite: Cubs Make Homer History Against Cards

I’m doing my best to enjoy a little family time, which I guess means stepping away from the computer pretty soon. This was going to be short anyway since I just wanted to share a few little facts from yesterday’s offensive explosion.

  • The Cubs’ eight homers were an all-time franchise record
  • Michael Busch was the first Cub to hit three homers in a game since Dioner Navarro on May 29, 2013 against the White Sox
  • Busch was the first Cubs first baseman with three homers in a game since Ernie Banks on June 9, 1963
  • After Hank Leiber in 1939 and Moises Alou in 2003, Busch is the third Cub with a three-homer game against the Cardinals: all of them happened on July 4
  • Pete Crow-Armstrong homered twice and is now 6-for-7 with four homers and a 3.
