Today, public court filings from Cook County may shed some light on the answer:

The couple is filing for divorce after 14 years of marriage. Julianna Zobrist is listed as the plantiff, meaning she was the one who filed the motion.
Zobrist has been away from the Cubs for a week now with what the Cubs have been calling a "family matter.
